’m Payton, and I created Mending with Mindfulness after years of living disconnected from my body and watching so many others do the same. Over time, I had learned to treat emotions as something to manage or push aside and came to believe that powering through discomfort was a sign of strength. I got very good at overriding my body’s signals until it stopped cooperating. In 2023, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but the roots went much deeper. Perfectionism, chronic stress, unresolved trauma, and a nervous system that never learned how to rest all played a role. I tried everything. Clean eating, supplements, endless testing, and even steroid injections into my spine. Relief didn’t come until I stopped trying to fix myself and started learning how to listen.
Mindfulness, somatics, and nervous system work helped me feel safe in my body again. They shifted my focus from control to curiosity and from tension to compassion, allowing real healing to begin. My passion is to support people who are tired of pushing through life and want to feel grounded, present, and at home in themselves again. As well as to support kids and teens to learn these skills as preventative health. I’m still healing, too, and I just want to create a space that is an invitation to move, rest, and live with more gentleness and awareness.
